The Best Places To Stay In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, the underrated city extraordinaire, has so many excellent places to stay. So how do you decide exactly which hotel to book?
Well, never fear, because I’ve put together a list of my absolute favourites. Here you’ll find luxury and mid-range options, family-friendly apartments, and some more resort-style options too.
Luxury hotels in Kuala Lumpur
The usual luxury hotel chains are well-represented in Kuala Lumpur. My favourites are:
The St Regis
The St Regis is located right next to KL Sentral (where the train to the airport departs) and the National Museum. Brickfields (Little India) is a very short walk away too. At the St Regis, you’ll have your own 24-hour butler service. Food-wise, you can choose from Japanese restaurants, mediterranean fare, and English High Tea. For children, we really like the kids amenity kit. Rooms start from approximately $520 AUD for a King room with City View.
The Ritz-Carlton
The Ritz-Carlton is located on Jalan Imbi, one of the borders of the Bukit Bintang/Golden Triangle area. Being in Bukit Bintang means you’re in close proximity to fantastic food (Jalan Alor or Food Street, as well as some excellent upmarket options) as well as great shopping and nightlife. At the hotel itself, you’ll find an oasis in the heart of the action, with five restaurants to try (and 24-hour room service if you’ve explored too much), a delightful spa (try the sound bath!) and rejuvenating swimming pool. Something I really love about Ritz-Carlton properties all over the world, (but particularly in Southeast Asia) is their Ritz Kids program, and the Kuala Lumpur version is no exception. They just do kids clubs so well – adding an immersive learning experience to an incredibly fun and lively program. Rooms start from approximately $210 AUD for a Deluxe King room.
The Mandarin Oriental
Kuala Lumpur’s Mandarin Oriental is located right by the Petronas Twin Towers/KLCC. The Mandarin Oriental’s views are absolutely incredible, especially at night. A particular highlight is looking over the city from the hotel’s infinity pool. I also love the tropical vibe – just because you’re in the middle of an urban metropolis, doesn’t mean you can’t get away from it all. Room rates start from approximately $310 AUD for a Deluxe King Room with City View.
The Four Seasons
The hotel’s contemporary design seamlessly blends with the vibrant energy of Kuala Lumpur, offering guests a tranquil retreat from the bustling city below. As you step into the lobby, you’ll be greeted by warm smiles and gracious hospitality from the hotel’s staff, who are dedicated to ensuring your stay is unforgettable. The Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur boasts beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites that feature breathtaking views of the city skyline and luxurious amenities that will make you feel right at home.
Indulge in the hotel’s award-winning dining experiences, from the authentic Cantonese cuisine at Yun House to the Italian fare at Bar Trigona. Sip on a signature cocktail at the hotel’s iconic rooftop bar, which offers panoramic views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. Relax and rejuvenate at the hotel’s world-class spa, where you can indulge in a variety of treatments, from a soothing massage to a revitalizing facial. Take a dip in the hotel’s rooftop infinity pool, which offers sweeping views of the city below.
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, the Four Seasons Hotel is the perfect base for exploring the city’s most iconic attractions.
The Four Seasons is located on the other side of KLCC from the Mandarin Oriental. Rooms start from approximately $490 AUD for a Double Room with City View.

After a long day of exploring, guests can relax and unwind at the hotel’s outdoor pool and sauna, offering stunning views of the city skyline.
Outside the city centre
There will be times when you need to stay outside Kuala Lumpur proper. For example, if you have business in Petaling Jaya or Subang Jaya (this region is known as Malaysia’s Silicon Valley).
You may also feel like staying out of the city centre to avoid the rush. Either way, here are some good accommodation options.
The Saujana
The Saujana Kuala Lumpur is located in Subang Jaya and offers exceptional amenities, making it the perfect destination for travelers seeking a tranquil retreat.
This gorgeous hotel offers beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites, all designed to provide the utmost comfort and luxury for guests. The rooms feature stunning views of the resort’s verdant gardens or the nearby lake, providing a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.

If you’re looking for something fun and a bit different, why not try Sunway Resort?
The resort features a wide range of accommodations, from the opulent Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa to the family-friendly Sunway Pyramid Hotel, all designed to provide the utmost comfort and convenience for travelers.
