Ubud is known as the cultural center of Bali and is completely different from the rest of Indonesia.
There are endless activities for you and your family throughout your stay in Ubud. Even more exciting, is that there is a wide variety of options for accommodations. Whether you’re looking for a beautiful villa in the middle of the forest or an extravagant resort in the city, you’ll be able to find the perfect stay for your family during your holiday in Ubud.
Something I’ve learned about picking the right accommodation for my family, is that it’s helpful if the stay itself is just as exciting as everything I want to show my family while we’re traveling. This way we feel like we’re experiencing something new and adventurous during our entire vacation, even if we’re relaxing by the pool at the end of our day of exploring.
Here I’ve put together a list of my favorite accommodations in Ubud to help you plan for your next holiday in Bali. Once you’ve booked your accommodation, don’t forget to check out our list of awesome activities in Ubud.

Current COVID-19 situation in Bali (as of July 2022)
Bali is now open to vaccinated travellers. The Welcome Back To Bali website has some excellent information, as does Australia’s Smartraveller site. The main things you need to be aware of are that you’ll be required to provide proof of full, current vaccination. You’ll also need travel insurance that includes coverage for COVID-19.
The Best Airbnb Villas for Families in Ubud
With this incredible Airbnb, you will have the entire villa to yourselves with two bedrooms.
You will only be 3 kilometers away from the city center of Ubud but you will feel like your family is getting to stay in the middle of the jungle. This is the perfect stay if you’re looking for a family vacation with the balance of the busy city during the day and a beautiful, quiet villa where you can relax between adventures.
The hosts of this Airbnb also provide a shuttle service at six different times throughout the day, making it extremely easy to get to and from the city during your stay. The villa itself features a private pool, Wifi, daily breakfast as well as cleaning services throughout your stay. I also love the river that runs through the property, right below the master bedroom window.
You will absolutely feel like you’ve escaped to paradise on your next vacation to Ubud!
One of the best things about staying in Ubud, is that you can get a two bedroom villa right next to the city center for just 57USD per night.
This Airbnb is a family-managed house with two king sized beds, so your family should be very comfortable throughout your stay. You will also have a private pool and a breathtaking view of the nearby rice field. The host is happy to help with transportation to and from the airport as well as to various attractions in the city, making it so easy for you and the family to explore Ubud during your visit.
The hosts also provide breakfast every morning and live next door on the same property so will be able to help should you need anything. The layout of the villa itself is very open, with the living space naturally flowing into the backyard and pool, making it so relaxing that it may be hard to leave to explore the city during your stay.
While super affordable, this illa won’t feel “cheap” – it’s more private and extravagant than some of the most expensive stays in Bali.
For those of you with larger families, this luxury villa will be perfect you and the kids. Not only is this a beautiful Airbnb for your next vacation in Bali, but it’s located right in the heart of Ubud so you can walk to almost every attraction on your list.
The property has three beautiful bedrooms with a bathroom attached to each, as well as a fully stocked kitchen, though breakfast is provided each morning, and a stunning outdoor pool. The villa itself looks almost like a tree house, towering in what seems to be a jungle in the city.
This paradise has a patio with an outdoor dining space, an outdoor living area and expansive windows in each room, allowing you to feel as if you’re enjoying the outdoors throughout your entire stay. The only downside is that the kids may never want to leave the backyard!
The Best Hotels in Ubud’s City Center for Families
Another amazing hotel for families in the center of Ubud is Alaya Ubud. Not only does this hotel have two outdoor pools, a children’s pool, a swim up bar, a fitness center and an outstanding spa, but the staff at this hotel have endless reviews praising their hospitality and kindness.
The hotel itself is just a four minute walk from the Ubud Monkey Forest, with the rest of the Ubud attractions less than a 10 minute drive away. The hotel offers various suites and packages, making it so easy for you to fit your ideal vacation into one of their deals. I definitely would suggest selecting a package that includes the hotel shuttle and cooked-to-order breakfasts.
My final, favorite thing about this hotel is that children stay for free, making it so easy to book your accommodations for the family vacation. There is also babysitting available and a five star restaurant with a bar and a lounge, so both the kids and the adults will have plenty of entertainment throughout your stay!
If you’re looking for a traditional travel experience and would prefer to stay in a hotel with your family, then consider Sapodilla Ubud.
Located right in the city, just 1.8 kilometers from Ubud Palace, and even closer to other popular attractions in the city, this hotel will allow you to be close to the city center while still enjoying its many amenities to relax after a day of exploring. There is also a free shuttle that can take you to and from the airport to make your stay as convenient as possible.
The hotel has a beautiful outdoor pool, an expansive garden, a bar and lounge, as well as a gorgeous terrace. Each room also has air conditioning, free wifi, and dry cleaning and laundry services. There are babysitting services available at the hotel in case the adults would like to treat themselves to a romantic dinner at the hotel restaurant or one of the many within walking distance in the city.
Komaneka at Rasa Sayang
My third hotel that is both amazing for families and is centrally located in Ubud is Komaneka at Rasa Sayang.
You will truly feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle while staying at this hotel, when you really are just a short walk away from the Ubud Traditional Art Market, the Ubud Monkey Forest, and the Ubud Palace.
One of my favorite things about this hotel is that the staff consistently go above and beyond expectations, making families instantly feel at home. The hotel itself has an outdoor pool, a beautiful bar and lounge, and an expansive spa which features a steam room, Swedish massages, and Ayurvedic treatments. Once you’re feeling relaxed and fully refreshed, you can enjoy the local Indonesian cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant.
What makes this stay even better for you and your family, is that children stay for free, there is babysitting available, and they offer a shuttle directly from the airport. If you are looking for even more adventure, the hotel has bikes available for rent and is near to many hiking and biking trails that take you through Ubud and the surrounding nature.
Komaneka at Rasa Sayang is the perfect luxury hotel option for you and your family if you’re looking for a combination of convenience, relaxation, and adventure during your vacation in Ubud.
The Best Resorts for Families in Ubud
After just a quick search, you’ll see that many of the resorts in Ubud are adults-only. So I’ve put together some of my favorites that are perfect for your family on your next vacation!
Element by Westin Bali Ubud
If you and your family are looking for something closer to an all-inclusive experience during your stay in Ubud, consider staying at the Element by Westin Bali Ubud.
One of the best things specifically about this hotel is that it has the feel of a major resort, where you have everything you could need within the hotel itself, but it’s still close to everything you’ll want to see in Ubud during your holiday.
The hotel itself has three pools, a children’s pool, a poolside bar, a full-service spa, and a 24-hour fitness center. One of my favorite aspects of this hotel is that each room has its own patio or balcony overlooking the pool or jungle.
If you’re looking for more adventure on your vacation in Ubud, the Element offers rafting on the surrounding water or mountain biking through nearby trails.
Visesa Ubud Resort
Something that everyone loves about accommodations in Ubud is that you can get the experience of a luxury all-inclusive resort without breaking the bank. One of the best resorts in Ubud for families is Visesa Ubud Resort.
Visesa is located a bit further outside of the city, but everything you will want to see is less than a ten minute drive away. My favorite thing about this resort is that it is directly on a river and allows you to be completely immersed in nature.
This is also the perfect stay for you and your family if you want this vacation to be all about adventure and new experiences. Visesa offers countless experiences for you to try out, including mountain biking, horseback riding, cave exploring, helicopter or airplane tours and spelunking. If you’d rather leave the adventure for your sightseeing, you can enjoy their full-service spa, take a dip in their outdoor pool while the kids play in the children’s pool, or try one of the three onsite restaurants. You will have everything at your fingertips during your stay at Visesa Ubud Resort.
The Lokha Ubud Resort
The one resort further outside of the city that I want to recommend, is the Lokha Ubud Resort. Even though most of the sights in the city are a twenty minute drive away, this stay makes it absolutely worth it.
Not only are you located right on the river, but you will have access to a beautiful outdoor pool, a full-service spa, and you will be able to experience a suburban area of Ubud. My favorite thing about this resort are the beautiful rooms. They feature a private pool on your own terrace overlooking the jungle. Even better is the resort itself looks like it’s been hiding in the jungle for centuries.
Plus, the staff go out of their way to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as possible. From providing a shuttle to and from the airport to having a free children’s club, they’ve thought of it all. This makes the slightly longer commute into the city worth it.
The Best Luxury Experiences in Ubud
One of the better known resorts in Ubud is Aksari. While this breathtaking resort is specifically known as a destination for honeymooners, they actually have several amazing services for families and for kids, making this stay perfect if you’re looking to splurge a little on a truly luxurious experience.
My most important tip for this stay is to think ahead a bit and book a package that fits the experience you’re looking to have with your family. You can choose a suite with a private pool, along with services such as a meal with a floating tray, a birthday surprise, babysitting services, a baby cot, a candlelit dinner, a spa treatment and much more.
While this resort is definitely more expensive than other stays on this list, it is perfect if you’re looking for a more extravagant experience.
The Samaya Ubud
Another beautiful Resort that offers a very unique and luxurious experience during your stay is the Samaya Ubud. The Samaya has a particularly special place in my heart, being the location of our very first romantic getaway as a new couple “back in the day”!
One of my favorite things about this resort is that it consistently stays true to traditional Balinese style and culture throughout the resort. The resort itself is made up of 19 private pool villas hidden throughout the surrounding nature, providing you with a very personal experience in the jungle of Bali.
This is definitely a romantic getaway and may not be the perfect stay for your family if you have young children, since each room is equipped with one king sized bed. However, you and your partner will definitely never forget the peaceful, romantic, and luxurious experience you have at the Samaya.
My final suggestion for a luxurious resort in Ubud is Padma Ubud. This is one of the larger accommodations that I have included in this list, but is one of the stays that is most isolated in nature as it is located in an untouched river valley.
Each room has a breathtaking view of the forest below plus the resort has a massive infinity swimming pool. You will also have access to the first-class spa and world-class dining experience. The Padma team prides itself on creating a rejuvenating space for you and your family to relax and refresh both your mind and body between your adventures in the nearby city of Ubud.
I hope this overall has helped as you begin to plan your vacation in Ubud! If you’re looking for additional tips for traveling to Indonesia with family, checkout my Ultimate Bali Holiday Guide or my advice on traveling to Bali with kids.
